Topic: Slim Sidebar Icons Move Upon Sidebar Expansion
williamw priority asked 4 years ago
Expected behavior I would expect that when the expand slim sidenav button is pressed, the sidenav opens up to show the additional text, whilst the icons remain static and do not move.
Actual behavior In both the documentation and in practice, I notice that when the 'toggle slim' button is pressed the font-awesome icons jump to the side. This is pretty distracting and is very obvious when mixing with different fontawesome icons, see example, where it's observed they jump at different times.
Resources (screenshots, code snippets etc.) Snippet illustrating this with fa-2x icon size with the fa-home, fa-grin and fa-city icons: https://mdbootstrap.com/snippets/standard/williamw/2817259
I note that other thinner icons such as fa-sliders-v-square exhibit this behaviour more strongly, but this wasn't available in the snippet environment.
Documentation where this is also visible: https://mdbootstrap.com/docs/standard/navigation/sidenav/ See the slim section.

We apologize for this but we do not have a solution at the moment. The size of the icons seems to be a problem. Note that in the snippet you send the problem occurs with the first three icons. The other two display correctly. We tried several solutions but none worked perfectly. There were always other problems. At the moment it seems that for icons whose size is an even number this problem does not occur, but if the size of the icon is an odd number the icons jump. Of course, we will continue to look for a solution that will work.

Hi Grzegorz,
The recent featured snippets are still exhibiting this behaviour: https://mdbootstrap.com/snippets/standard/ascensus/3330482
In these examples only a small amount of movement can be seen, but as I use large icons fa-2x, this is very pronounced.
Thanks, William
