Topic: Search Material Select closing dropdown on search input click
Ian G. Morris free asked 5 years ago
Expected behavior When implementing Select with s search box, the user should be able to to click into the search input within the dropdown and start to enter the characters they are searching for.
Actual behavior When clicking into the input field on the searchable select box, the dropdown treats the click as if it is not in the dropdown, and the result is the dropdown disappears.

We updated this with 4.7.6 version and higher. Do you have PRO license or do you have a premium templates license?

Hi Piotr,
If you're referring to this - https://mdbootstrap.com/snippets/jquery/piotr-glejzer/33844 - it's not working properly either.
It's doing the same problem as Ian described. I'm having the same problem too (4.7.7)

This is version 4.5.12, it will not work with chrome 73. Do you have some live examples with the latest version?

Piotr,
https://help.deacom.com/sandbox/TOPHAT_Backup/v0.9/
- Click the hamburger menu in the upper left corner
- Click on the dropdown menu
- Click in the searchable input field and try to enter a character
You will see that the click in the input field is treated as if the click was out of focus for the dropdown menu.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Piotr,
There appears to be a seond bug present in my example as well. The first time you click on the hamburger menu, the sidenav is displayed after one click. Going back to the menu, it now requires 2 clicks to expose the menu. I have see past tickets about this, and it was beleived to be resolved, but it appears to be back.

Piotr,
While messing around, I found that if I right click on the dropdown, it treats the click as if it was a left click, and now allows me to enter text in the input search field as expected. Obviously this is not the expected way to interact with the element, but I thought you might want to know that it some cases it will work, just not the normal way.
