Topic: Material Select touch scroll in SideNav?
Gallagher pro asked 5 years ago
Having a material select with a long list of options inside a sidenav doesn't scroll on touch/mobile devices. That is the select options that aren't already on the screen can't be scrolled down to be selected.
Expected behavior Touch/drag scrolling with finger should scroll the select element options without affecting the sidenav scroll until it reaches the end of the option list.
Actual behavior Touch/drag scrolling doesn't work at all in the material select dropdown so the user cannot select options that are lower in the select dropdown menu.
To test just add a material select to the sidenav and try it on mobile (or even on chrome's dev console). Is there a fix/workaround for this or do material selects just not work properly when placed inside a sidenav? The 'browser-default' version does work, but of course, can't be styled fully like I need.
Thank you!

Hi Gallagher,
Thank you for this feedback. We will investigate this issue. I believe that this wasn't predicted usage of side nav by the designer. I added fixing this to our to-do list.
Best Regards, Piotr
