Topic: Material Select - Keyboard Navigation?
cdenby pro asked 5 years ago
When using a browser default select, it's possible to focus (tab in) and then use the keyboard to navigate the selection.
Example:
<select>
<option value="1">1</option>
<option value="1a">1a</option>
<option value="1b">1b</option>
<option value="2a">2a</option>
<option value="2b">2b</option>
<option value="2c">2c</option>
<option value="3">3</option>
</select>
In this case, we can get focus and then key "1" once for the "1", again for the "1a" and again for the "1b".
Is that functionality a possibility at all with materialSelect? I can't seem to find anything about this.

There is not possible with material select for now. I add a task to look into this in the future. Have a nice day.

Hello Piotr Glejzer, We also had the same accessibility issue, without which Material Select component is not a 100 percent accessible component. We see many users raising this keyboard navigation and the auto-focus to search input issues in common. So kindly prioritize this issue at top.

Hello Piotr Glejzer, It's been more than a month and we have no update from your team, can we expect a fix on this issue in the upcoming release.

we still didn't improve that keyboard navigation. Not all suggest we can implement in the fastest way but we try to this as soon as possible.
